A comprehensive safety program is not an accident. It’s good business and it's a product of a collaborative team effort. Under the leadership of our vice president of risk management, MICCO’s long-established safety program monitors the training and participation of all project team members and ensures that all members maintain the required training and certifications.
At MICCO, policies and procedures are implemented to eliminate injuries and occupational illnesses. Because many projects interact with the operations of our clients, we take special care to ensure the safety of the public using the facility while it's under construction. This requires our project managers and superintendents to be vigilant regarding work safety rules. They are empowered to make on-the-spot decisions regarding safety concerns. Regardless of the project size, we bring each client the same added value:
- Full-time corporate safety executive
- Comprehensive safety manual
- Safety orientation for new employees and on-going training
- Site-specific safety programs
- Evaluation of subcontractor safety performance prior to bid awards
- OSHA 10 and 30 Hour coursework
- Active participation with “MUST” and “Safe to Work” certifications that ensure comprehensive drug testing
MICCO’s Experience Modification Rate is below the national average. The benefit to our clients is a lower cost of doing business.
MICCO is proud of our safety record and of having received several recent awards:
- 2007 Safety Award Excellence Division IV from the AGC of Michigan
- 2006 CAM Safety Award for Lost Workdays and OSHA Recordable injuries
